Kärlek: Hi Kathryn! Tell us a bit about yourself!

KR:  Hi, I'm Kathryn!

I'm a fashion lover, content creator, and rooted wanderluster! I would travel the world if I could, but my heart belongs to a sweet Indiana boy (my husband!) :)
Local adventures bring me so much joy and doing it in style... even more!
Always and forever running on coffee and the Golden Rule
Kärlek: What was the inspiration behind your art?

KR:  As silly as it may seem, I was inspired by warm weather! When I created my backpack, we were in the process of receiving a foot of snow outside. All I could think about was sunny skies, tank tops, and pretty flowers. I wanted my design to make me smile every time I saw it, so I picked the one flower that always looks like it is reaching out to give a hug - daisies!

Kärlek: Love it! :-) So, which mediums did you use and what made you choose them?

KR: To design my backpack, I used Sharpie paint pens because I wanted my design to last!

Kärlek: What did you enjoy most about using a Kärlek backpack as your canvas?

KR: My favorite thing about my Karlek backpack is that I not only get to use this weather proof backpack for absolutely everything, but I also get to customize it exactly how I want it. AND I didn't have to pay to get it customized :) Sure there are mistakes, but I really wouldn't have it any other way. My design imperfections bring so much character to my bag and I absolutely love it!

Kärlek: Do you have any tips or thoughts to share about your experience?

KR: The best tip I have to give (looking at you, my fellow type-A's) is to use a washable marker to mark points or lightly sketch your drawing before you go at it with a paint pen. It was very easily colored over and helped me actually feel confident enough to begin the design with a permanent coloring source. Even when I made a mistake with the paint pen on some of my daisies, the second layer of white paint made it pretty unnoticeable! ~Don't be afraid of mistakes~
