Kärlek: Hi Crissy! Tell us about yourself.
CD:  I'm Crissy DePina from N.J. now living in Pike Creek, Delaware. Artist and owner of Henna True. I loved art my whole life. I'm pretty addicted to d.i.y. projects that haven't been made yet! I love a challenge.
Kärlek: What was the inspiration behind your art?

CD: My inspiration for this comes from the meaning of Kärlek itself. (Love) My parents had glassware with Love is… quotes on them. The characters on the glasses looked like my Mom and Dad. I thought the glasses were made for them. So, my bag has the female character who I always thought was my Mom.

Kärlek: That's great! :-) So, which mediums did you use and what made you choose them?

CD: Since this design was more of a vintage vibe I only used fabric paint with a little acrylic paint for color. I used black sharpie markers and gold leaf markers. To give it the shimmer I used fabric paint and gold sequence with a little red fine glitter too.

Kärlek:  What did you enjoy most about using a Kärlek backpack as your canvas?

CD: I've never used gold leaf markers on fabric and this was a pleasant surprise. Even the sharpie marker did well on the material. It was such a smooth surface to draw on.

Kärlek: Do you have any tips or thoughts to share about your experience?

CD: If you love shimmer, gold, and glam like I do, I suggest using a good quality adhesive to hold embellishments on. I've seen a couple of mine fall off with just using fabric glue. I'd use heavy-duty glue for my single sequence pieces. When placing loose embellishments be sure to place on areas free of moving zippers and you'll be fine.
